Moroccan Desert Excursion from Ouarzazate 2 days

Moroccan Desert Tour Departing 2 days from Ouarzazate - A 2-day adventure tour in the Moroccan Sahara Desert.

Day 1: Ouarzazate – Moroccan Desert Erg Chegaga

The 2-day tour in the Moroccan desert begins in Ouarzazate by 4x4. We will take the route leading to the great dunes of Erg Chegaga, passing through the Tizi-n-Tinfifte pass at 1700m altitude in the Anti-Atlas. This pass offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and landscapes. Our first stop will be at the Agdez oasis, where the verdant Drâa Valley begins, known for its lush palm groves.

We will continue our journey towards Zagora, the oasis town. Next, we will visit Tamgroute, famous for its ancient Quranic school and library, as well as its traditional pottery workshops where you can see the manufacturing kilns.

We will arrive at M’Hamid, known as the true gateway to the Moroccan desert, for a lunch break. After the break, we will take the track into the desert to reach the majestic dunes of Erg Chegaga. You will have the opportunity to enjoy a camel ride and admire a magnificent sunset. The evening will be spent in a traditional bivouac, where you will spend the night in a tent, enjoying the tranquility of the desert and the starry sky.

Day 2: Moroccan Desert Erg Chegaga – Ouarzazate

We will continue our adventure, crossing the Moroccan desert by 4x4. We will pass by the dry lake of Iriki, an arid and fascinating landscape, before reaching the Moroccan Colorado desert, known for its spectacular rock formations and numerous fossils. It is an ideal place for geology and natural history enthusiasts.

We will then join the paved road at Foum Zguid, a small town located on the edge of the desert. On the way, we will pass by Taznakht, known as the capital of Moroccan carpets. Here, you can discover local crafts and perhaps purchase traditional carpets as a souvenir. We will take a lunch break in this charming town.

Finally, we will return to Ouarzazate in the afternoon, passing through the Fint oasis. This oasis, nestled in the rocky mountains, is a true haven of peace with its palm trees, gardens, and small Berber villages.
