5-day desert adventure from Agadir, passing through Tafraout, Tata, and Erg Chegaga. Discover the stunning landscapes of the Moroccan desert and visit the iconic Ait Ben Haddou in Ouarzazate.
Day 1: Agadir to Tafraout
Meet in the morning in front of your hotel to start the moroccan desert tour to the small Berber town of Tafraout, known for its history and the colors of the Anti-Atlas. Tafraout, which used to be an open-air market (souk), later became the administrative center for several surrounding villages. On the way, we will visit the historic village of Ighir Ifrane. We will arrive in Tafraout early in the afternoon for lunch. After the midday break, we will visit the "blue rocks," granite rocks painted in blue and red by the Belgian artist Jean Vérame in 1984, offering a unique display. Overnight stay in Tafraout.
Day 2: Tafraout – Tata
After enjoying the tranquility of Tafraout, we will leave this beautiful town and head towards Tata, a desert town rich in traditions. Immerse yourself in the mystical atmosphere of the ancient ksour (fortified villages), which testify to centuries of Berber nomadic civilization, while enjoying the lush gardens of the region's largest oases. We will make several stops to enjoy the panoramic route. Arrival in Tata at the end of the day. Overnight stay in Tata.
Day 3: Tata – Erg Chegaga, Moroccan Desert
Departure from Tata towards the Moroccan desert in a 4x4 via Foum-Zguid. We will take a track that will lead us to the largest dune in Morocco in the desert. We will pass by the dried-up Iriki lake before arriving at Erg Chegaga at the end of the day. Upon arrival, we will take a camel ride and then climb the dunes to enjoy the sunset. Evening entertainment and overnight stay in a Berber tent. The Moroccan desert is an ideal place for meditation.
Day 4: Erg Chegaga, Moroccan Desert – Ouarzazate
After our short excursion in the Moroccan desert, we will continue towards Ouarzazate. After crossing the desert, we will rejoin the paved road at M'Hamid, the gateway to the Moroccan desert and the last village of the Drâa Valley before the desert. We will pass through Tamgroute, known for its green pottery, where we can visit the kilns and the ancient Quranic library. On the way, we will visit the Kasbah of Tamnougalt. Arrival in Ouarzazate at the end of the day. Overnight stay in a hotel.
Day 5: Ouarzazate – Agadir via Ait Ben Haddou
Our Morocco desert tour departing from Agadir, comes to it end. We will head towards the fantastic fortified kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. After visiting the kasbah, we will continue our journey towards Agadir, with a lunch break on the way. Arrival in Agadir at the end of the day.
